Mustard Gas Conversion Project
US Army, URS (EG&G Division), Umatilla Army Depot, Oregon
Service Provided
Greenberry was selected by URS as the contractor to modify the Umatilla Army Depot Mustard Gas Disposal System in Umatilla, Oregon. Upon completion of the destruction of all Nerve Gas at the Facility, URS was preparing to begin a campaign to destroy all the remaining Mustard Gas at the Depot. This was an extremely dangerous project that was done while the facility was in operation, destroying the remainder of the Nerve Gas. It required not only extreme safe practices and controls, but a level of coordination that went far beyond the norm.
